In the heart of Saint-Tropez
Two markets are held in Saint-Tropez. The first, a daily one, is a must. It’s the fish market. Under beautiful old vaults, you are offered the catch of the day. Red mullets, scorpion fish, sea urchins… enough to make your mouth water. The second market is held in the Place des Lices, in the heart of the village. There, you’ll find the unique atmosphere of the markets of Provence, in which the colours of seasonal fruits and vegetables, the scent of soaps and lavender and the wonderful accent of the locals mingle. Not to be missed, it takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
There is not a Provençal village that does not have its own market. You can arrange your visits to these villages so that they coincide with market days or leave it to chance to discover the festive ambiance to be found in the small communities of the hinterland. Very close to Saint-Tropez, you can enjoy picturesque Cogolin, Ramatuelle and Sainte-Maxime. It’s a great opportunity to have a quick lunch comprised of fresh produce from the market or find beautiful craft items to take home with you.
The Provençal market is the ideal place to find fresh and seasonal produce and the creations of the artisans and producers of the region. It’s also an opportunity to meet locals and immerse yourself in the warm and welcoming atmosphere so characteristic of the villages of Provence.
