La Bastide de Saint-Tropez

Jazz festival, secret beaches and trip aboard the yacht of the Bastide of Saint-Tropez

Categories : Saint-Tropez, published on : 8/11/16

Along with beach, pool and party, summer at the Bastide de Saint-Tropez is also synonymous with festivals. Among our favourite moments are those spent at the Ramatuelle Jazz Festival.

The ingredients that make up the magic of Ramatuelle

It was thirty years ago that jazz enthusiasts created an event that has since become an essential aspect of life on the French Riviera. The secret of the success of the Ramatuelle Jazz Festival can be found in the quality of its line-ups. Over the years the biggest names in jazz have played there, to the delight of audiences. These stars have included the Count Basie Big Band in 1995, the Michel and Tony Petrucciani Duo in 1996 and Garoswing last year. However, it is also the magic of the place that bewitches both participants and audiences. The outdoor amphitheatre at the edge of the village becomes a musical haven where the blue note rises to the stars and where the scent of oleander permeates the air. But concerts are also held in the olive grove that saw the birth of the adventure, offering jazzy evenings that are completely relaxed and informal.

A new and dazzling vintage

This year there is a distinct theme emerging of "son and daughters." These confirmed artists have managed to emerge from the shadow of their famous parents to play their part in the galaxy of jazz musicians. Thus, you can enjoy the swing and the warm voice of China Moses, daughter of Dee-Dee Bridgewater, and the exploratory genius of Kyle Eastwood, son of the actor Clint Eastwood, who offers creations on bass guitar and double bass at the crossroads of influences and musical genres. Stanley Clarke, Emile Parisien and The Amazing Keystone Big Band complete a choice programme.

This 2016 edition, to be held from August 16th to 20th, will create many fond memories and is an essential experience when staying at the Bastide de Saint-Tropez!
