The Place des Lices with its petanque players, the yellow and red bell tower set against a background of azure sea and sky, private beaches frequented by the jet-set; these are the iconic images of Saint-Tropez with which we are all familiar. But today the team here at the Bastide de Saint-Tropez wishes to tell you about another of this renowned Provencal town’s iconic places, one adored by the stars; its port!

The port; centre of Saint-Tropez life

Exploring the port is a wonderful way of finding the very essence of Saint-Tropez; that of a small fishing village on the Grande Bleue, protected by the gulf that bears its name. On the quays, beyond the luxury yachts, we can still find plenty of pointus, the traditional small fishing boats of this part of the world, arrayed in a thousand bright colours. Time and again these bring back the catches that delight our chef Philippe Colinet and his team of three in the hotel’s restaurants. The docks are a place of life and perfect for a walk. In all seasons, people come to do some shopping or enjoy a chat in the sunshine.

A village in the heart of the resort

Perfectly integrated into the urban landscape, while keeping its good-natured fishing port atmosphere, the Port of Saint-Tropez is nevertheless a busy, thriving and vibrant place. Newcomers are often surprised to learn that it is actually spread over no less than 9 hectares and has the capacity for 734 moorings, divided between two basins. With 40 full-time employees and services worthy of the most prestigious ports, it stands out as one of the major stopovers in the Mediterranean. It also shows another side of Saint-Tropez, one that continues to complement perfectly the more famous aspect embodied by the resort’s luxury hotels.

All the services of a prestigious port

To anchor at the port of Saint-Trop' is also to enjoy a VIP service. Telephone, television, WiFi, meteorology and, of course, fuel and sewage pumping constitute the basis of this. You can also take advantage of the Groom Service to help with any technical issues. The port also has two magnificent terraces that can be privately hired for your events. In addition, regular members can enjoy the Lounge Club and its exclusive spaces boasting exceptional views. This offers the ideal opportunity to savour a great vintage as the sunset bathes the gulf and the town in its glorious effulgence.

Events and engagements

The Port of Saint-Tropez is also the venue for several prestigious events throughout the year, each of which reflects the town’s vibrant soul. The Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the Trophée du Bailli de Suffren, the Voiles Latines, the Armen Festival and the Giraglia Rolex Cup are major occasions for sea and sailing enthusiasts as well as for casual onlookers captivated by the fascinating contrast of white sails against the blue of the sea. However, despite its prestigious events and reputation for luxury, the Port of Saint-Tropez does not overlook key issues. The town’s committed approach to ecology is manifested in concrete actions such as the provision of micro-recycling centres and its adherence to the Label Port Propre (Clean Port Label).

Truly iconic, the port of Saint-Tropez remains one of the favourite places of locals and vacationers. You can reach this fascinating, authentic and vital part of the town from the Bastide de Saint-Tropez in about ten minutes on foot. And to make the most of the experience, come aboard our yacht to enjoy a dream cruise on one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world...
