An ideal setting

The mimosas are in bloom, the daffodils are already showing the tips of their petals. Spring is not quite here yet, but the harbingers of its coming are already to be found in the port, on the terraces of the cafes, along the creeks and the hiking trails where you can walk hand in hand away from the crowds. Indeed, you’ll discover a different face of Saint-Tropez when you visit at this time of year. The authentic face of a pretty Provencal village, with picturesque streets lined with houses, their stones ochered by the sun, squares sheltering gurgling fountains, and steps leading to secret gardens.

La dolce vita

Early in the morning, the port comes alive with the return of the fishermen, the Place aux Herbes with the imminence of the market. Unhurriedly, the fashion and design boutiques and greengrocers open their doors. Morning coffee is followed by a little white wine at noon. Time drifts by, peacefully and happily, until the hour of the aperitif blossoms with the scent of orgeat and aniseed. The white sand strewn coves are deserted, or almost, as well as the long beaches, where the tide and the shells have claimed their rights. You can walk along the sun-kissed coast, by the maritime pines and cork oaks, and, if the fancy takes you, sink your feet into the thyme and rosemary carpeted garrigue of the nearby Massif des Maures.

While it might be true to say that lovers can live on love and fresh water, it’s safe to say that they won’t turn down the opportunity to enjoy fine food lovingly prepared from the choicest ingredients with passion, skill and creativity! Indeed, who could possibly resist this fabulous Valentine's Day menu, the details of which we are delighted to reveal to you now? For starters there will be sea bream, cut into thin slices and marinated in a delicate citrus sauce. A perfect appetiser to lead you onto the roasted duck foie gras that accompanies a chicken consommé with cassava pearls. Served rosé, and enhanced with fennel confit with basil, langoustine concludes the entrées, smoothly paving the way to the shoulder of Provence lamb confit with Varoise truffles.

The sky is now deepest velvet black, revealing the magical twinkling of the stars. The moment has come to serve the champagne.
